Kerry Young
Kerry built on four years in industry and seven years in the European Commission (External Relations) and UK civil service to co-found a successful European consultancy with offices in five countries.
Moving from policy and programme development she has more than 20 years managing projects for DGEnv, DGRegio, DGResearch and the UK and Finnish government. She now works for a smaller consultancy she founded to focus on running one of the UK government’s National Contact Points for the European Union’s Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, alongside project development and management in the environment and innovation sectors. Separately she works as a project Monitoring Officer for UKRI. One of Kerry's assets is her experience working with different bodies and audiences, ensuring close coordination and liaison during programme development and implementation.
Two key elements of her work have been the presentation of Commission policy and programmes to external audiences, helping third parties gain a better understanding of Commission policy and its implications; and supporting UK organisations to develop proposals for European funding. Although Kerry’s main skills are in project development, management and monitoring, and her academic background is in Natural Science, her heart is in cross-border cooperation and international development. Kerry has managed the European Business Awards for the Environment for LOW since 2014.
