LOW Associates Launches the First Edition of the Brexit Barometer

“LOW Associates Launches the First Edition of the Brexit Barometer”

The Brexit Barometer is a tool designed by our policy experts to assess the evolving relationship between the UK and the EU post-Brexit. Much like a weather barometer measures air pressure to forecast weather, the Brexit Barometer gauges the "pressure" in UK-EU relations. This first edition coincides with the UK General Election, a timely point to evaluate the status of the Trade and Cooperation Agreement (TCA) and the Windsor Framework. The Brexit Barometer will be updated annually to track changes under the new Labour government, focusing on areas such as trade, regulatory alignment, security, and public opinion.

This report, mixing both quantitative and qualitative analysis, covers eight key areas:

  • Regulatory alignment;

  • Institutional cooperation;

  • Trade;

  • Capital and financial flows;

  • Environmental cooperation

  • Security and justice cooperation;

  • Public and political attitudes;

  • Northern Ireland.

The inaugural edition of the Brexit Barometer marks the start of an ongoing annual initiative that analyses and monitors the complex and changing dynamics between the UK and the EU.
